fashtech: See The Person That Beat Gigi and Kendall for 2015's Model of the Year Award

She's 22, German, and apparently a bigger deal this year than Gigi OR Kendall.

When it comes to breakout stars in the modeling industry, besties Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner dominated 2015. From landing campaign after campaign to making their Victoria's Secret fashion show debuts and gaining millions of followers on social media, it seemed like if a major job didn't go to one of the two models, it was because it went to both of them (hi, Balmain campaign). Today however, Models.com Model of the Year Industry Awards–which determines winners with votes from 250 top designers, photographers, hair and makeup artists, casting directors, and editors–announced that this year's highest honor went not to Kendall nor Gigi, but to Anna Ewers. The German model topped the industry-voted list, which had Gigi as a runner-up. The reader's choice award, however, crowned Gigi as the Model of the Year with Kendall as a runner-up.
